I am pleased to share with you some of our accomplishments for fiscal year 2016.
The year brought its share of challenges. We remain committed to adapting and expanding our services. We continue to work to ensure individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) have the supports they need to live the lives they choose.
The Arc of Atlantic County received 4-year accreditation from The Council on Quality and Leadership (CQL). The accreditation process measured The Arc’s ability to maintain the highest standards of service, support, and excellent work practices. Since 2004, The Arc of Atlantic County is the only provider in the State of New Jersey to have earned this esteemed status. We are proud to have achieved this and look forward to its impact on our strategic plan.
Employment training opportunities continue to be an area of need for the people we serve. We have expanded our career services program with the opening of a new training and retail center located at 331 Tilton Road in Northfield. The Arc AnGels Candle & Gift Shop offers participants career preparedness training and skill training in areas such as production, customer service, merchandising and sales. Our candle makers, who share in the proceeds of sales, are learning firsthand what it takes to run a business.
We continued to prepare for the implementation of the State of New Jersey’s transition to a fee-for-service model of support services. We are confident that we have positioned ourselves to manage the many challenges this change will create. Our accomplishments are possible thanks to the generous support of caring people like you. On behalf of everyone at The Arc thank you for allowing persons with I/DD the opportunity to Dream, Believe, and Achieve.
